Because your privacy is important to us, the Academy of Art University conducts its business under the following principles:
Principle 1 - Limited Collection of Personal Information
In its administration of the Student Forums, the Academy of Art University requires personal information, such as student ID, name, e-mail address, birth date, gender, degree, department, alumni status (Yes/No), and "100% Online Interest" (Yes/No), from its Members. Information regarding a Member's address, interests, and resume are optional.
Principle 2 - No Combination of Browsing and Web Traffic Information with Personal Information
The Academy collects personal information but does not combine traffic analysis information with personal information (such as name, age, phone number, and mailing address).
Principle 3 - No Aggregation of Individual Visitor Traffic Patterns across Multiple Sites
The Academy collects personal information for internal use only. Only students and alumni with a valid Student ID number can access the site. No guests or visitors may use the Service. There are not multiple sites within the Student Forums; this is a stand-alone Web site.
Principle 4 - Use of Anonymous IP Address
IP addresses are recorded by every site on the Internet. The Academy collects this information as well, but does so exclusively for the following uses: (1) anonymous statistical purposes; (2) administration of our Web site and servers; and (3) improvement of our services to Members.
Principle 5 - Anonymous Use of Cookies
It is the Academy's policy to use cookies exclusively to increase the accuracy of anonymous traffic analysis. Cookies are set for the e-mail address and the login name (username). Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. Cookies are required until the User logs out of the Forums.
Principle 6 - No Individual Profiling
The Academy does not create individual profiles for visitors. Students must create and set up their own accounts. All the information is stored securely in the Academy's database.
Principle 7 - Limited Use of Cookies
The Academy uses cookies to track information such as the time/date of the visit and the time/date of the last visit. Cookies are set for the email address and login name (username). The data collected serves only to update aggregate counts, allowing the Academy to monitor traffic on its site. Cookies are required until the User logs out of the Forums.
